FOEX‘s European pulp and paper indices leap up; graphic paper and board increase

FOEX‘s European pulp indices increased again this week, with the dollar-based northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp price jumping by $10.53/tonne and the bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) pulp index rising by $10.61/tonne. The euro-based indices rose more significantly, adding just below Euro 30/tonne, as the euro weakened against the dollar.
On the recovered fiber front, OCC decreased slightly again this week, but ONP/OMG inched up by Euro 0.59/tonne.
Meanwhile, on the graphic paper side, all indices headed north, driven by the weakening of the euro against the weighted basket of non-EMU currencies. The prices for copy paper rose the most, moving up by Euro 18.61/tonne.
Indices on the packaging side also increased this week, although only levels for kraftliner and white-top kraftliner showed growth of more than Euro 2/tonne. |
